James (Jim) B. Doersam, P.E.
Mr. Doersam is a nationally recognized composting expert, and licensed professional engineer in Texas.
He has designed and prepared operational plans for numerous large-scale composting operations, and
has been involved with writing of manuals of practice and state regulatory requirements for composting
operations. He's been responsible for the start-up and management of several large scale organics
composting operations, including community education and marketing for the sales and distribution of
composted product (varying grades of product, including for both edible and non-edible crops).

 

 

Susan M. Parten, P.E.
Ms. Parten is a professional civil-environmental engineer and St. Thomas property owner. She has over
twenty-five years of experience with research, design and providing regulatory and program management
consulting services, and is a licensed civil engineer in Texas and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Ms. Parten
holds a BS in Civil Engineering and Masters of Science degree in Environmental Health Engineering,
both from the University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Parten has served as project manager and/or principal
investigator for state and federally funded grants and studies, including a two-year nationwide study of
community sized decentralized wastewater systems.

 

 

Gary Ray, Ph.D.

Gary Ray is a forest ecologist, a rare plant specialist, and instructor of biology at the University of the Virgin Islands. He holds a Ph.D. in Land Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he focused in restoration ecology, a field of applied ecology. He holds Bachelors (U. MD) and Masters degrees (U. MT) in botany. His Masters research was examined the effects of heavy metals on riparian communities near a copper smelter. Gary is starting a first-of-its-kind native plant nursery in the Virgin Islands.

 

Jason Budsan
Jason was born in St.Thomas VI, He attended Johnson and Wales University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Food Service Management  He owns a business on St Thomas: Caribbean Herbals and Candles located inTillett Gardens. He is the President of Environmental Association St.Thomas- St John ( EAST)
He is a member of Virgin Islands Conservation Society ( VICS) and an Environmentalist and avid gardener.
